ONSbank kick-off / Money - Watching / het instituut

 

Watching money until it’s yours

 

On April 9th at Spui 25 in Amsterdam, Het Instituut is organized ‘Money Watching’, a project by Italian artist Cesare Pietroiusti. During this event everybody can experience the temptation of money. If you stare long enough at a 10, 20 or 50 euro banknote, you can take it home.

 

The willingness to stare at a banknote for such a long time, will cause a lot of different emotions to arise; shame, discomfort and maybe even anger. This was exactly the point. Money Watching marks the kick-off for ONSbank; a unique debt assistance program for youngsters in Amsterdam conceived by artists and developed by Stichting Het Instituut, De Kandidatenmarkt and MaDi. The debt-youngsters who participate in the program will act as guards during the kick-off and will thereby be confronted with the people's desire and relationship to money.
